Summer was fun, but its back to the grind!

I had a blast this trackout!  I enjoyed two weeks of NC sunshine, a week in NY and a week to work in my classroom!  I did a lot of crafting and loved every minute of it! :)

While I was home in NY, I spent a lot of time working on my sisters wedding planning!  My mom and  I worked on crafts, shopping and brainstorming wedding day ideas!  E (my sister) and Mom made homemade jams for all of the visitors staying at the hotel for the weekend.  E and I tied ribbons on the jam jars, which was a little harder than it looks! haha  We also made candle holders for the head table! :)  We also made cups for the brides maids!  The last picture is of the card  box that I made!  I still have to add their initials to the top tier, but its almost done!

We also had E's bachelorette party and had a fabulous day in the sun, a great dinner out, and ended the night at a rooftop restaurant! :)

Everyday while I was home, was packed full of wedding, crafts, sewing and more! My dad and I even started to make a book case for my classroom! :)

One last thing....My mom is an amazing sewer!  She made me a fantastic bag that is a perfect carry on or a perfect bag for when you go to target and buy too much and cant carry it all into school in one trip!  With this bag I will not be taking multiple trips! :)

When I got back to NC, I slept for an entire day! haha :)  When I got home I worked on tie dying some clothespins and they really turned out great!  I dyed them red, orange, yellow, green, blue and purple! I am so excited to use these in my classroom!

Over track out, I also made these awesome bulletin boards!  I am going to use these for my anchor posters in math, science, reading and writing.  I cant wait to see how this works; I am hoping it keeps me organized and helps the students organize their subjects.

I have also been busy making a theme for my classroom.  I am doing all stars!  I even made a behavior management clip system! :)  Each student has a clip that goes on our chart.  At the end of each day my students color in their calendar a specific color.  Each color means a different level of effort shown.  This is the best way for me to communicate with parents and students to be able to visualize what they need to work on! :)  Each student gets 3 chances before going on red.  It keeps the students accountable for the behavior and it keeps me accountable also.  It's great!

I have recently changed the colors to Level 4 effort (purple), Level 3 effort (green), and Level 2 effort (blue).

Liebster Award!!!

So yesterday, I was reading a blog and she was talking about how she was nominated for a Liebster Award for new bloggers.  And I was thinking, wow that would be awesome if I could somehow get that award! And....BAM! I get an email this morning and the wonderful Tiffany May from One Fab Teacher nominated me and I got the email this morning! :)  I am so excited that my blog is adored by teachers and nominated for this award! :)

I gladly accept this nomination!!  :). Thank you so much for nominating me!  It really means a lot to me! :)

To accept the nomination I must:
1. Link back to the blog that nominated me
2. Nominate 5-11 blogs with fewer than 200 followers
3. Answer the questions posted for you by your nominator
4. Share 11 random facts about yourself
5. Create 11 questions for your nominees
6. Contact your nominees and let them know you nominated them

The questions that Tiffany May asked me are:

1. What's your favorite color?
My favorite color has always been blue, but lately I have been loving purple!

2. Why do you teach?
I teach to change the lives of my students. I hope to inspire students to love learning and grow as students, as children and citizens! :)

3. What's one of the best lessons you've taught?
One of the best lessons I taught this past year on "how to make a cupcake".  The whole day was themed "cupcakes".  We wrote about how to make a cupcake, we measure, baked, frosted and ate the cupcakes.  We even got to read "If you give a Cat a Cupcake".  The kids loved it, and I did too!

4. Instagram, Pinterest, or Facebook?
My facebook account is Katelin's Kreative Kindergarten.  Go on over to my page, I post most things from my classroom, and then crafty inspirations! :)
My pinterest account is Katelin Lill.  Check it out, I have pins about school, but also about working out, recipes, and more!  My favorite time to pin is when I am sitting at the pool enjoying the sun! haha :)
I have not yet ventured into the world of Instagram but I do have twitter! @KatelinsKinders

5. Iphone or Android?
I just got a phone with data, cause for a while i was a poor college student and couldn't afford it! But now I have an Iphone and LOVE it!

6. If you could take your students on an all expenses paid field trip where would you take them?
I would take my kids to NY when it snows. These kids in NC have no idea what it is like in a real winter! :)  It would be so much easier to teach the seasons if they had the background knowledge of what a snowstorm really is!

6. Flats or Heels?
Flats, I only own one pair of heels! haha, I am too tall for heels & flats are SO comfy!

7. Whose your favorite blogger?
I'm not sure I have only one favorite!  I read so many kindergarten blogs! :)

8. If you could live anywhere but where you live currently where would that be?
I really love where I currently live, but if I can take my friends,  family and a teaching job... anywhere warm, sunny and tropical, I would be good! :)

9. Favorite hobby?
Definitely crafting, and creating my awesome finds on pinterest!

10. Soda, Water, or Tea?
I really try and drink alot of water.  I drink water a majority of the time, but the occasional Dr. Pepper always wakes me up and get me ready for what every may happen in the afternoon in kindergarten! haha :)

11. What's the most frustrating thing about blogging?
I think the hardest part about blogging is the lack of feedback...It was hard when there was only google reader, because I was struggling getting my blog out there, but, now with Bloglovin' it seems as though I am getting new followers weekly! :)

Popcorn and a movie day & End of Year Celebration

So...I finally came back to the blogging world to blog about the actual happenings in my class the last few days of school.  Once I tracked out, I had to take a couple day break, but now that its a rainy, ugly, gray day, its time to blog.

The last couple days of school were a ton of fun!  The second to last day of school was popcorn and a movie day, that we transformed into pajama day too!  Who doesn't want to be comfy when they are cleaning their classroom after school?! :)

We taste tested popcorn and graphed our favorite types of popcorn (butter, caramel, cheddar, and kettle corn). The kids loved it and really enjoyed trying different things!  Most kids like the cheddar the best. :)

The last day of school was a WHIRL WIND!  Such a crazy day!  We all got to school and the kids and I were able to watch the slide show, of all the fun activities we did this past year!  Then we went to the talent show; from the talent show we went to recess, then back inside for lunch.  And then, the craziness began! haha  All of kindergarten rotated throughout the classrooms.  Each room had a theme; my room was "Out the door dinosaur", another teachers was "Best Wishes, Little Fishes".  In each room the kids did a craft and read a story if there was time :)  The kids really loved it, and this way on the last day of school the kids were active, engaged and interested in what they were learning! :)

After we completed our dinosaur craft, we had an impromptu FIRE DRILL!  YES, a firedrill on the LAST Day of school, right at the BEGINNING of KINDERGARTEN CELEBRATION!  So, I got all the kids, and my red bag and walked outside.  Meanwhile, all of kindergarten's families were walking in!  It made for a hectic beginning to the celebration, but we managed! :)  We got back inside and the kids sang their songs, I gave out awards, the kids walked the red carpet and had a cupcake!  Such a great way to end a fabulous school year! :)

More pictures to come! :)
