10 Things I am Thankful for...

It's Thanksgiving, and the food has been made and eaten.  And the kitchen is still a mess...but we will get to that eventually! I wanted to post about the things I am thankful for, because since I took my first teaching position a little over a year ago, so many great things have come my way!

1.  I am thankful for my amazing family, friends and bf.  I couldn't stay positive, and motivated without your constant support.

2. I am thankful for my Lake Myra friends, that support me and my ambitions daily!  I am also thankful for the laughs that come along with teaching in kinder!!

3.  I am thankful for an awesome class of hard working 5 and 6 year olds! I am thankful for the smile they can put on my face every day!

4.  I am thankful for fabulous classroom parents who cut out everything I laminate, donate supplies, and spend their time in my classroom, helping me provide rigor and higher level thinking in my classroom weekly!

5.  I am thankful for my bf and mom pushing me to start my TpT store.  I have reached a milestone 4 months before I thought I would!  Thank You!!!

6.  I am thankful for the opportunity to teach and live my passion weekly!

7.  I am thankful for relaxing 4 day weekends!

8.  I am thankful for my health, as I know how many germs are in a Kinder classroom :)

9.  I am thankful for being able to provide my family that is far away, a forum to see what I do in my classroom, as I know if I was closer my mom would be in my classroom weekly!!

10.  I am thankful for everyone who has ever encouraged me, pushed me or helped me achieve my goals and aspirations!

What are you thankful for?? I'd love to hear from you, in the comments!

So, in other news, I am changing my blog, tpt, and pinterest name!! The total transformation will be coming soon.  My new name will be "Creating. Teaching. Inspiring"

I feel as thought this name is one I can keep forever, throughout my career.  This is my mission in education!  I am really excited about this switch!  Check back soon for an updated look!!!

I am thankful for .. technology at its finest!

The big push at Lake Myra is technology in every classroom.  Today we worked on paper slides, which we learned about in a professional development this past month.  So, today was the day I attempted to make one!  It actually didn't take long and the kids loved it :)  This is a great, easy way to incorporate technology into your classroom with a fun paper slide!  Hope you enjoy our hard work!

Social media frenzy!

I have been so busy lately working on joining Pinterest boards, tweeting, posting FB posts and putting up new products! This is like another full time job, but I am loving it!

Check out the links to the left to check out my social media fun!

I have also been busy in the classroom! We have done a scarecrow unit since I last posted! And we are about to begin a "what are you thankful for" unit!

The kids loved the scarecrow unit!  We did a math graphing activity and a patterned writing prompt!

We also worked on identifying 4 main details in a story! I modeled the thought process and then the kids independently drew pictures of the key details in the story!

Not my best art work but my Pete the Cat drawings were pretty impressive! At least I thought so!  Haha

I have created a new literacy center that scaffolds students to be writing sentences independently!  You can find the product on TpT!

Have fun learning!!

I survived my first HaLlOwEen in KiNdErGaRtEn!

This past week was a ton of fun with Halloween and the craziness that comes with it!  Our school doesn't celebrate Halloween as a school.. Like no costumes or parade but since it was on a Thursday we decided we would go all out PURPLE for antibullying!  It ended up being a really fun day filled with laughs, smiles, learning and crafts!

Oh ya.. And we wore tutus!  Our shirts say.. I am tutu busy being a Leader... To be a bully!  It was a great day and I think we brought some awareness to antibullying!

We also made a bar craft and followed it up with some shape graphing!  Our bats finished up our bats unit and look great in the hall!

One if the standards we worked on was answering and asking questions about key details.  We are scaffolding up to actually being able to ask questions so this week we worked on determining what the key details are.  I modeled how they would determine key details and this is how our work turned out!  We will continue to scaffold this skill until we can write our own questions... Right now we are just drawing the picture!
